Audi A4 offers a well-balanced combination of beautiful form and functionality. The powerful grill made in singleframe technology adds depth and sporty expression. The heavily profiled wheel arches optically widen the A4 body, making them even more effective on the street. Lightweight construction plays an important role in the new Audi A4. Thanks to the strategic use of two types of steel and three types of aluminum, it has been possible to optimize the curb weight, increase body rigidity and ensure lower fuel consumption and better ride quality (for example: less vibration in the interior due to lower unsprung weight).
The A4 quattro all-wheel drive based on the torsen mechanism is optionally available. The quattro all-wheel drive in the Audi A4 offers two key functions: the center differential with locking and selective distribution of torque to the wheels (electronic torque vectoring), possible thanks to the locking of the differential, its planetary gearbox and the sophisticated ESC program.
Planetary gears are connected to a rotating housing (located between the ring and sun gears) that distributes the drive torque asymmetrically between the front and rear axles. Under normal driving conditions, the power is distributed 40:60 between the front and rear axles. This rearward-tilted distribution ensures sporty handling and enables dynamic cornering. If a loss of adhesion at one of the axes is detected, the helical gear wheels and their slanted projections produce axial forces in the differential. In this way, a locking moment is generated and power is transferred to the wheels with better friction values. Up to 70% can be directed forward and up to 85% can be directed backwards.
Driving power is transmitted through the newly developed S tronic DL382 two-clutch transmission combining excellent performance with excellent gear shifting times, ensuring sporty but comfortable driving with relatively low fuel consumption. New key advantages are: gear shifting times of just a few hundred seconds and significant weight savings compared to the previous continuously variable multitronic transmission and the eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. An additional advantage of this transmission is the fact that up to gear 5 we are dealing with very short gear ratios, then gears 5, 6 and 7 are correspondingly longer. This solution provides phenomenal driving dynamics in urban conditions and dynamic driving, as well as acoustic comfort and low fuel consumption over long distances, or during quiet driving.
Under the bonnet A4 B9 we will find a 2.0-cylinder 2.0 TFSI CYRB with 252 hp and 370Nm of torque is distinguished by dynamics and efficiency. Improvements include: integration of the exhaust manifold in the cylinder head, improvements to the Audi valvelift system, the electric turbocharger throttle and innovative temperature management. The Start-Stop system, standard on all Audi A4 models, has also been improved and helps reduce fuel consumption.
Below are a few implementations that have taken place in our company. Three copies of the A4 B9 version 2.0tfsi 252km came to us for individual tuning of the latest incarnation of the SIMOS 18.4 driver with the launch of the Pop & Bangs function.
The cars have undergone mechanical modifications in both STAGE 2 and STAGE 3. The modification of the STAGE 2 package includes a custom through downpipe, replacing the restriction in the form of factory catalysts, a more efficient intercooler and a sports air filter insert.
The STAGE 3 package requires analogous modifications and a hybrid turbocharger, e.g. TC TURBO model TC400 based on the factory turbocharger from the Audi S3 310KM model.
After a few hours of work spent on the dynamometer, we refined the software to safe values of engine operating parameters. The pressure and temperature parameters at the exhaust have remained within a safe range. For such a comprehensive modification, an important approach is the individual approach to vehicle tuning. Only in this way can you ensure stable and safe operation of the drive system, which allows you to enjoy the pure joy of driving a car with greater power without fear of unexpected faults. The effect of our work is presented below in the form of graphs from a load dynamometer.
After our proprietary STAGE 2 and STAGE 3 packages, the CYRB engine unit has changed its character significantly. Driving dynamics are comparable to top hot hatchbacks. Thanks to the 4-wheel drive, traction is absolute regardless of the weather conditions. Such a modified vehicle redefines the driving experience of the Audi A4. From a docile middle-class car, the car has evolved into a road monster that can provide a lot of excitement from driving and win many duels from under the lights. When the need arises, the car is a typical kilometer eater that is able to pay back with optimized fuel consumption.
The car has gained a lot of dynamics and efficiency, especially from a place. The ease of propulsion is impressive given the fact that it is a mid-range station wagon equipped with a 4-cylinder gasoline unit.
